Hi!

Since 2019, I have served on the Historic Resources Commission as a city appointee, currently a vice chair. A founding member of the Charlotte Street Business Association (CSBA) and served as its president for two terms. CSBA came together with city staff and neighborhood groups to help move the Charlotte Street road diet project to completion. I have been involved in the preservation efforts of my Albemarle Park neighborhood, for which I currently serve as president. For 9 years I have donated graphic creative services to the non-profit Preservation Society of Asheville and Buncombe County and helped staff broaden outreach and strengthen messaging to their membership. I am a founding member of AIGA Asheville, the professional association of graphic designers. Started 'The Bear Pack' at Claxton Elementary in 2013 to help dads get more involved in the school and compliment the great work the PTO was doing. Over the years the Bear Pack led in building projects, playground repairs, food distribution, event setup/breakdown, and sometimes just made copies to help teachers on Monday mornings.

I have been a graphic designer since graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1993. My wife, Amy, and I work together in our little graphic design studio. Clients include The Nature Conservancy, Conferences for Women, and a host of local restaurants and businesses in our community. These local clients have been a pipeline to learn about successes and struggles our community is experiencing. Our son, Peter, is graduating from Asheville High School this spring. We have two dogs and walk around town each morning.
